A kitchen fire damaged a home at 2187 Sodhi Ave. in Galesburg Wednesday afternoon. No one was inside and no injuries were reported.
The Galesburg Fire Department was dispatched at 4:33 p.m. Thursday, May 28. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames within the kitchen.
The Fremont Station fire crew made an initial attack with a hose line and extinguished the fire. No occupants or pets were found inside the residence and no injuries were reported.
Fire damage was contained to the kitchen and living room. Smoke damage was reported throughout the residence. Galesburg Fire Department investigators determined the fire to be unintentional.
The American Red Cross assisted the residents following the incident.
