The City of Galesburg’s Public Works department will launch its annual street painting and pavement striping program beginning the week of June 1. Work is scheduled to run through Sept. 1, weather permitting.
Crews will operate on rotating schedules to restripe city streets, street parking, and municipal parking lots. High-traffic areas will be prioritized during off-peak hours to minimize disruptions to drivers.
During operations, chase trucks will deploy traffic cones and “Wet Paint” signs to protect freshly painted lines. Motorists are asked to use caution and avoid driving over freshly painted lines, crossing between support vehicles, or navigating around traffic cones.
The city uses fast-drying paint to minimize traffic disruptions. All temporary parking restrictions and wet paint zones will be clearly marked.
