Barbara Lee Hawkins, 92, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at 6:21 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2026, at Maple Hill Senior Living, Monmouth, Illinois.
Barb was born March 21, 1934, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Claude H. and Hazel K. (Dee) Berry. Barb first married Jack Anglund on October 1, 1956. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1973. Barb then married Eugene D. Hawkins on November 30, 1974, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2010.
Barb is survived by one son, Doug (Lina) Hawkins of Oquawka, Illinois; three grandchildren, Mary (Sean) Bragg, Doug (Cassie) Hawkins Jr., and Mike Tuthill; her six adored great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ronald (Barbara) Berry of Wisconsin. Along with her two husbands and parents, Barb was preceded in death by one son, Larry Anglund, on April 16, 2020; two sisters, Patricia Hutchings and Betty Hudgel; and two brothers, Robert Berry and Richard Berry.
Barb worked at OMC Gale Products in Galesburg for 30 ½ years, retiring in 1983. Barb was a longtime faithful member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She had a cabin for many years in Oquawka and loved spending time on the Mississippi River. Barb was a lover of dogs, especially Buttons, Benji, Yogie, and Misty, all of whom predeceased her, and is survived by one dog, Mac. Most of all, Barb loved being with her family and grandchildren.
No public visitation is planned. A funeral Mass for Barb will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following Mass, with private family burial of cremated remains at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
