Detention hearing for Galesburg stabbing suspect pushed to Tuesday

The detention hearing for a Galesburg woman charged with attempted murder in a stabbing earlier this month has been pushed back a day, according to the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Destiny N. Denniston, 29, was scheduled to appear Monday for a hearing on whether she will be held without pretrial release. Knox County State’s Attorney Ashley Worby told WGIL she filed a verified petition to deny Denniston’s pretrial release on Friday, but the hearing has now been continued to Tuesday.

Worby said Monday’s court docket was full of substantive hearings, and the defense moved to continue the detention hearing to allow it adequate time and attention. It is now set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Denniston faces a charge of attempt first degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery in connection with a Sept. 10 stabbing that critically injured a 29-year-old woman, who was life flighted to a Peoria hospital.
