An 80-year-old tenant of the Spoon River Towers apartment complex in Lewistown died after falling multiple stories from an outside balcony Tuesday night, the Fulton County Coroner’s Office said.
Coroner Austin Rhodes identified the deceased as Ollie Gray, 80.
Emergency services were called to the high-rise complex at about 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, for an individual who had fallen. Rhodes said the person was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after emergency crews arrived.
A forensic autopsy was performed Wednesday, Sept. 30, in Peoria County. Preliminary results indicate Gray died due to injuries sustained in a fall from significant height.
The manner of death is still being investigated by the coroner’s office. The office said no foul play is currently suspected.
The Fulton County Coroner’s Office, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and the Lewistown Police Department are investigating. The Lewistown Fire Department and the Fulton County Emergency Medical Association also assisted at the scene.
