QUINCY, Ill. (AP) — A former Adams County prosecutor charged with murder in his first wife’s death wants to keep his second wife from testifying at his upcoming trial.
The (Quincy) Herald-Whig reports that Curtis Lovelace’s lawyers asked the trial judge Tuesday to bar testimony by Erica Gomez-Steinkamp. Prosecutors have identified her as a potential witness in a trial scheduled to start Jan. 25.
Lovelace, who has pleaded not guilty, is accused of suffocating 38-year-old Cory Lovelace at their home in 2006. He was charged with the crime in 2014.
Curtis Lovelace is a former Quincy school board member and Big Ten football standout at Illinois.
