
James K. Zielke, 90, of Monmouth, Il died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, IL.
He was born February 20, 1925 in Little York, IL. the son of Charles and Alice Rachel (Kinkaid) Zielke. He was raised and educated in the Little York area.
James married Martha J. Nelson on March 6, 1948 in Monmouth, Il and she died July 11, 2013.
James was a farmer his whole life. He loved being on the farm and was always willing to help friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed playing the piano for others.
He was a member of the Coldbrook Christian Church.
Survivors include his 2 daughters, Rose (Lowell) Neal of Monmouth and Kathy (Ron) Whaley of Florida; 4 grandchildren, Amy (Justin) Miller of Woodhull, IL, Kevin Neal of Milan, IL, Ben (Jessica) Whaley of Bozeman, MT, and Chris (Jessica) Whaley of Asheville, NC; 4 great grandchildren, Audrey, Gage, Tatum and Aaden Miller. Also surviving is his sister, Betty Alecock of Rock Island, IL; brother, Raymond Zielke of Holly Hills, FL; sister in law, Anna May (Harry) Engholm of Galesburg; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter Sarah Whaley; brother, Dean “Bud” Zielke.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Coldbrook Christian Church. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth. Friends may call Tuesday evening February 16, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to the Coldbrook Christian Church.
