A Galesburg restaurant that has branded itself as having a “unique casual dining experience” for more than 35 years will close its doors July 2nd.
Hammer’s General Feed Store on North Broad St. in the 4L Plaza will soon be no more.
A sign posted on the front door indicates the closing is due to the retirement of owner Wayne Hammerschmidt.
The statement thanks the community for its “friendship and support throughout the years.” Hammerschmidt could not be immediately reached for comment.
Hammer’s has served pizza, pasta, sandwiches and more since its inception.
