District 205 report threats made at Galesburg High School

District 205 officials and Galesburg police have confirmed that a student allegedly “made threats” at Galesburg High School today, though the nature of those threats have not been disclosed.

According to Galesburg Police Lieutenant James Bradford, authorities do not believe the threats to be credible. He says all school activities will go on as originally scheduled. The high school administration and police are in the process of conducting an investigation.

In an e-mail to district parents this afternoon, a district representative says the “student was allegedly making threats toward staff and students” and that “the student who allegedly made the threat will not be in attendance” while the investigation is on-going.

District officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
