Robert E. Halladay, 63, of Joliet, IL, formerly of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 8:40 pm, Sunday, July 15, 2018 at his home.
Rob was born March 23, 1955 in Monmouth, IL the son of Robert Roy and Geneva Rose (Worthington) Halladay. He was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School in 1973. He later graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Philosophy.
Rob served as a Sergeant with the Military Police in the United States Army from 1983-1990.
Following his discharge from the service Rob worked as a Correctional Officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections at the Statesville Correction Center in Joliet, IL for over 20 years retiring in 2012.
He loved to work on old cars, motorcycles, travel, and was a Chicago Blackhawks fan.
Survivors include his sister, Ruthe (Larry “Butch”) Greer of Seaton, IL, his niece, Lindsey M. (Andrew Bristol) Greer of Rock Island, IL; Cousin Patty Jackson-Radlo of Los Altos Hills, CA, best friend Bob (Sharon) Paulsgrove of Monmouth, special friends Sally Underhill of Joliet, IL and Renee of Joliet, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 Aunts and 3 Uncles.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am, Monday, July 30, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment with Military Honors will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. A gathering of family and friends will be 10:00-11:00 Monday at the funeral home.
