Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs. Rock Island Rocks

The Galesburg Silver Streaks stayed winless Thursday in Western Big 6 Conference play as they fell to the Rock Island Rocks 53-39 at John Thiel Gym.

The Streaks played a pretty good first quarter, as they trailed then 14-11.  But, they couldn’t get anything going offensively from that point on.  Nobody was in double figures for the Streaks. Riley Jenkins had 8 points, 7 for Lauren Livingston.  Off the bench, Kadynce Lydic with six points, three steals, an assist, and three rebounds.  She was also our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game.

The Streaks shot just 15 for 56 from the field.

Rock Island was led by their Senior, Hannah Simmer, with 21 points on 9 baskets, and was three of three from the free throw line.  Brooklynn Larson had 12, Jamyah Winter had 10.  The Rocks move to 6-3 on the season, and 1-1 in the Western Big 6 Conference.

GHS is now 4-3 overall, and 0-2 in the Western Big 6.  They next play at United Township Saturday.  We’ll have the game starting at 12:10pm with the pregame, and 12:30pm with the tipoff, on WGIL, WGIL.com, and WGIL on the TuneIn Radio app.
