Philip Joseph Medina, was greeted at the rainbow bridge by all the loving animals he cared for at 9:32 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Phil was born August 13, 1953 in Galesburg, the son of Mario and Dorothy D. (Charles) Medina. He is survived by two brothers, Michael A. Medina and Steven W. (Helen) Medina both of Galesburg; and one sister, Susan M. (Ricky) Wilder of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents. Phil graduated from Costa Catholic High School in 1972. Phil was able to carry his love for animals into a career at Galesburg Small Animal Hospital, retiring after 45 years as the office manager in 2017. He loved music, especially The Beatles, and enjoyed playing the drums. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. During the construction of the grade separations in Galesburg, Phil enjoyed documenting the progress of construction by taking daily photographs. The family would like to thank Marigold Health Care and Rehab along with OSF St. Mary Medical Center, for the love and care they provide Phil; as well as the Weech Family and the staff at Galesburg Animal Hospital for their love and friendship through the years.
Cremation will be accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
