Tuesday, February 2nd, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos announced that she will co-chair the bipartisan, Congressional Chemistry Caucus in the House. Bustos said in a statement, “American industry would not be what it is today without the advances in chemistry that helped us make strides along the way. I am proud to join the Chemistry Caucus as a co-chair and look forward to working with my fellow co-chairs to continue to educate and advocate for the critical role that chemistry plays in the American economy.” She’ll be co-chairing the caucus with Michigan Republican Congressman John Moolenaar. The Chemistry Caucus was founded in the House in 2016 and it serves as an informal group of 50 members who are interested in the transformative science of chemistry. The mission of the caucus is to educate Members of Congress and the public about the benefits of chemistry in today’s society and the importance of sound science in public policy. The caucus also works to promote interest in STEM education and encourages today’s students to become the chemists of tomorrow.
