CHICAGO (AP) – A fourth Chicago police officer in two weeks has been injured. Police Superintendent David Brown says the wounding of the officer Thursday occurred during a shootout with a suspected shoplifter. The suspect also wounded a Home Depot security guard during a struggle. According to Brown, the police officer was wounded in the shoulder. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and will likely undergo surgery for his injuries. The security guard was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was described as grave. The suspect in the shooting was wounded and pronounced dead at a hospital. The three Chicago police officers previously injured are recovering from their wounds.
