On Friday, April 30th, Galesburg Police responded to the Nature’s Treatment parking lot in the 700 block of West Main street for a well-being check of two children left in a vehicle. A security guard for the dispensary told police that while walking the parking lot, he heard an infant crying from inside a vehicle. It was about 70 degrees that day, and the security guard noted that the car was not running, the windows were cracked, and he observed two children sitting in the back of the car. When viewing security footage of the parking lot, it was determined the children were left unattended in the car for nearly 20 minutes while two adults went into the dispensary. It was later determined that the children were 10 years old and 24 days old. The security guard was able to give police the registration for the vehicle, and officers went to the listed address. Officers made contact with the parents: 26-year old Marquise Lewis and 25-year old Shaquille Swinney. Both were charged with Endangering the Life or Health of a Child and the Department of Children & Family Services was notified.
