
On Wednesday, July 14th, Galesburg police were dispatched to the 1500 block of East Main Street in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. The 23-year old victim met police at Beck’s gas station. The victim told police he made arrangements with someone from Galesburg to trade his Playstation 5 for an Xbox Series X through Facebook marketplace. He took an Uber from Rock Island to Kiwanis Park in Galesburg where he was met by three black males and a white female driving a black Chrysler 300. Two of the males forced him into the car, punched him in the face, and held him at gunpoint. The victim was tased in the leg at one point. The suspects took his wallet, iPhone, and Playstation. They forced him to deactivate the “facial recognition” feature of his phone and then drove around. The subjects eventually dropped the victim off “near a car dealership and a closed gas station” according to police reports. The victim told police he is unfamiliar with Galesburg, but found his way back to Kiwanis Park and eventually to Beck’s. The victim tried to use the “Find my iPhone” feature with help from the police but it was unsuccessful. The investigation is ongoing.
