Galesburg man charged with stealing thousands from Chicago stores

A Galesburg man was charged with stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from Chicago retail stores last year.

According to Fox 32 in Chicago, 19-year-old Jerome Williams was arrested in the 200-block of South Cherry Street on Thursday.

It is alleged that Williams entered several retail stores in the Gold Coast, Wicker Park, and Lincoln Park neighborhoods in December and stole $20,000 worth of items.

The alleged thefts happened on four different days in mid-December. The details of the stores hit were not detailed in the story, nor were a list of the items that were taken.

Fox 32 says that the thefts happened on December 9 and 10 at a store on North Michigan Avenue, December 12 and 21 at a store on North Damen Avenue, and December 21 at a store on West North Avenue.

Williams is facing six felony charges, five of which are retail theft over $300 and one count of continuing a financial crimes enterprise
