Food and fun returns with the Taste of Galesburg on Simmons St.

The Taste of Galesburg will take to Simmons Street this evening will plenty of food, fun, and tunes for the family to enjoy.

The summertime event features 20 local restaurants and great-tasting food for attendees to try out and maybe find their new favorite dish from or find their new favorite spot in town.

After two years off because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Taste of Galesburg will see restaurants lining up Simmons between Prairie and Seminary Streets and handing out some of the dishes they’re best known for, as well as a few specials for the Taste.

Kraig Boynton, one of the Taste’s organizers, tells WGIL that each year the Taste supports a non-profit, and this year they’re supporting the Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank.

“We also try to support a 501(c)(3) [not-for-profit] every year, so we have a raffle and that raffle this year is going to benefit Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event. Prizes will include $1,000 in cash, $500 in cash, and a dine-in basket with $500 in gift cards. We will have Cubs/Cardinals tickets, courtesy of KFM.”

The Taste of Galesburg is being held along Simmons Street from 4:00 to 10:30. There will be live music and free children’s activities.
