
A 38-year-old man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Fulton County on Monday night.
According to the Illinois State Police, two deputies with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office were looking for a male subject, later identified as Jeremiah C. Jones, for a warrant of Domestic Battery.
At around 9:56, officers located and encountered Jones south of Table Grove, where he allegedly pointed a gun at the deputies and both of them fired their weapons toward Jones.
Jones was struck an unknown number of times and pronounced deceased near the intersection of Fulton County Road 13 and East Bailey Road. No members of law enforcement were injured during the incident.
The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4 was contacted by the sheriff’s office and is handling the investigation of the incident.
