City administration says the city should consider a quarter cent sales tax increase to support a proposed community center and infrastructure improvements throughout the city as identified through a public survey. Administration says the funding strategy would result in new revenue and will not have an impact on current operations or programs currently funded.
The Galesburg City Council on Dec. 5 voted 4-3 to proceed with the former Churchill Jr. High School building as its preferred location for a new community center.
