Shortly before 8:00pm on Friday, Galesburg Police responded to the 200 block of West First Street for a report of criminal sexual abuse. Officers first met with the owner of the residence, a 48-year-old woman, who said she rents a room to a 25-year-old Galesburg man. The woman said she heard the screams of a 26-year-old woman who was also inside the home. The female victim said the man was acting strange and then backed her into a corner and held both of her arms down before grabbing her private area aggressively. The man departed when the woman screamed and the homeowner entered. While speaking to the victim, the male suspect returned to the residence. He was emitting an alcoholic odor and when officers detained him, he began pulling away and yelling obscenities at police. The man refused to answer any questions. He was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with resisting a peace officer and criminal sexual abuse.
