Ila V. Sloan, 93, of Avon, passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 26, 1930 in Cuba, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Flossie Mae (Munson) Meyers. She was raised and educated in Avon, graduating from Avon High School in 1948.
She married Willie J. Sloan in August of 1948 in Palmyra, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1995.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Willie Sloan and Ronnie Sloan, both of Avon; Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Ila is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie J. Sloan; son, John “Mac” Sloan; granddaughter, Tammie Sloan and 9 siblings.
Ila’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years and loved Facebook and playing Solitaire. She was a granny to everyone and helped raise many children in the Avon area.
Funeral services for Ila will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023. Interment will be in the Avon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to aid with funeral expenses. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
