Amy Cokel, administrative assistant with Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center in Galesburg, joins Galesburg In Focus to discuss how the organization can assist survivors of domestic violence and their children.
She discusses how instances of domestic violence increase over the summer. She also talks about their services, The Purple Hanger and the signs that someone you know is being abused and what you can do to help them.
Funds raised at the Purple Hanger resale shop, 169 N. Broad St., go to help with services at Safe Harbor and they also send domestic violence survivors and their children there to get clothing, furniture, etc. when they are in need.
