In the early days of picking up nominating paperwork for City-elected offices in 2025 only incumbents have emerged.
Campaigns are getting underway for Galesburg Mayor, City Clerk, Township Assessor, and Wards 2, 4, and 6 on the City Council.
Incumbent Mayor Peter Schwartzman, who previously announced a campaign for a second term picked up his paperwork on the very first day.
So did incumbent City Clerk Kelli Bennewitz and Township Assessor Laura E. Williams.
Meanwhile, the only candidate for City Council that has picked up forms is Ward 2 incumbent Wayne Dennis who would be seeking a fifth term in 2025.
There’s still plenty of time for candidates to enter the fray as papers can not even be submitted to the Galesburg Election Office until Nov. 12-18.
