Justin Newell: Meet Knox College’s new VP and director of athletics

In this episode of Galesburg's Morning News, we get to know the soon-to-be man in charge of athletics at Knox College. Last November, Knox announced Justin Newell would become the College’s new vice president and director of athletics on February 3.

Newell comes to Knox from Kenyon College, a NCAA Division III liberal arts institution in Gambier, Ohio, where he currently serves as associate director of athletics, a position he has held since 2021.

In the interview with WGIL's Jay Redfern, Newell outlines his vision for the athletic program, emphasizing mentorship for coaches, fostering competitive spirit among student-athletes, and aligning athletics with the college's broader goals. The new AD also shares his thoughts on the significance of sports in education and how he measures success beyond just wins and losses.
