Robert A. Lumberry, age 59 of Delong, Illinois, died 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on March 6, 1965 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Ruth (Davies) Lumberry. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School, the class of 1983. He married Kristina Taylor on September 14, 1991, in Knoxville, Illinois.
Surviving are three sons: Timothy Lumberry of DeLong, Illinois, Travis (Jenessa) Lumberry of Wataga, Illinois, and Nicholas Lumberry of Guam, USA; his mother, Ruth Lumberry of Knoxville, Illinois; one brother, Kelvin (Gerri) Lumberry of Galesburg, Illinois; one sister, Kay (Preston) Jacobson of Tacoma, Washington; brother-in-law, Neal Detmers of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Robin Detmers and daughter, Noelle Lumberry.
He was a steelworker for the former Bulter Manufacturing in Galesburg, Illinois for 18 years, then for Caterpillar in East Peoria, Illinois. He was a member of the UAW Local 974 in Peoria, Illinois. He was a former member of the Knoxville Fire Protection District, the Delong Department, serving as assistant chief and former Cub Master of the Knoxville Cub Scout Troop. He enjoyed to read and play video games, especially Dungeons & Dragons with his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Burial will be in the Haynes Cemetery in rural Delong, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Family.
