Dante & Dory’s: More than a traditional pet store

A new premium pet retail store named Dante & Dory’s: A Pet Destination is opening this spring in downtown Galesburg, promising to be more than a traditional pet shop.

Dante & Dory’s will be located at 354 E. Main St., most recently a Dollar General and for many years an Osco Drug Store.

Co-owner Candace D’Agnolo, Pet Center Director Stephanie Hall and the inspiration behind the name, Dante & Dory, joined WGIL's Jay Redfern and Tyler Gumm on Galesburg's Morning News to talk about the new venture.

The store—named after the owners' two rescue Pomeranians—will feature unique amenities such as self-wash rooms, an open play space for events, and a grooming salon with a training program. The owners were inspired to create this "pet destination" after the local Pet Supplies Plus announced its closing and they recognized a need in the community.

The store plans to open in phases starting in late April or early May, with a grand opening planned for the summer, all while keeping the community updated through social media.
