Inside Galesburg Sports: New coaches, turf, camps and more

They preview summer plans, including All-Sports Physicals on May 21 at Kimbrough Fieldhouse, the Booster Club’s Golf Outing, and diverse camps like basketball and wrestling. Young also discusses coaching transitions, including Taylor Thiel as the new boys basketball coach for 2025-26.

Young details major facilities upgrades at Galesburg Jr./Sr. High, including the 26,000-square-foot Wicall Gym expansion, artificial turf for Jim Sundberg Field and the softball diamond, and the renamed Kimbrough Fieldhouse. Furrow outlines 2025-26 Booster Club priorities, like funding equipment and increasing membership.
