Neon Nights and Community Spirit: Inside Galesburg’s Glow-Up Game

Get ready to light up the night with Galesburg High School’s Glow-Up Game. In this episode of Galesburg’s Morning News, Laurie Aten from Give Back, Galesburg joins us to share the excitement of this neon-themed fundraising event during the Galesburg vs. Geneseo football game on Friday, Oct. 3—kicking off with the freshman game at 5 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m. Laurie dives into the fun activities, including neon face painting by GHS art students, glow stick sales, and fan-favorite challenges like the Speedy Streak Race at the end of the 1st quarter and field goal kicks at the end of the 3rd. We also hear about the hot-selling Glow-Up T-shirts, sponsored by local businesses, with a few still available for purchase at the game. All proceeds support new cardio room equipment at Kimbrough Field House, creating an inclusive fitness space for students. From elementary students hula-hooping at halftime of the freshman game  to raffle prizes like neon cakes and custom tumblers, this event was a glowing success for community spirit and student wellness. Give Back, Galesburg’s mission  supports youth programs through partnerships with the Kleine Pediatric Wellness Center.
