The Galesburg High School girls swim team won the 31st Annual Panther Invitational on Saturday at United Township High School, topping a 12-team field. Senior Lily Furrow led the Streaks, setting a new meet record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.12, breaking the previous record of 24.13 set by Galesburg’s Danielle Hulick in 1999.
The Streaks finished with 225 points, ahead of Byron High School (219 points) and Pleasant Valley High School (213 points).
Galesburg earned top-three finishes in several events. Furrow won the 50-yard freestyle (24.12) and placed third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.02). Senior Hayden Johnson won the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.73) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.42). Freshman Camdyn Miller took second in the 200-yard IM (2:21.36).
In relays, the team of Miller, Johnson, Furrow, and junior Macie Nelson won the 200-yard medley relay (1:53.20) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.42).
