Mrs. Sidnie Anne Jones, 78, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 4:15 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at Arcadia Care of Toulon, surrounded by love.
Sidnie was born August 2, 1947, in Bradford, Illinois, the daughter of Mertin and Lois (Routh) Hayes. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Jones, Jr. on September 2, 1970, in Galesburg, and together they shared 55 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, faith, and service to others.
Sidnie’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth; her sons, Mark (Joey) Jones of Palmer, Alaska, and Craig (Ashley) Jones of Dahinda, Illinois; her daughter, Amy (Jason) Ferguson of Wataga, Illinois; and her cherished grandchildren, Joe and Aiden Jones and Jake (Kennedy) Ferguson and Jehnna Ferguson and one great granddaughter, River Ferguson, who brought her endless pride and happiness. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Virginia “Ginny” Hayes.
Sidnie graduated from Bradford High School and earned her degree in nursing from Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing. She devoted 40 years of her life to caring for others as a pediatric nurse at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, where she was known for her compassion, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to her patients.
After retirement she and Kenneth wintered for over 10 years to the Gulf Shores of Alabama. They also enjoyed camping and boating on the river in Oquawka.
In her quieter moments, Sidnie found joy in simple pleasures. She loved knitting, cross-stitching, and lovingly making baby blankets—each stitch a reflection of the care she gave so freely to those around her. Sidnie was a woman of strong faith and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel.
