Vivian E. Miller

Mrs. Vivian E. Miller, 97, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 1:13 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Allure of Lake Storey in Galesburg.

She was born September 15, 1928, in Woodstock, Illinois, the daughter of Aris R. and Pearl (Elkinton) Cox. She married Darrol D. Miller on June 27, 1948, in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1985.

Surviving is one son, David L. Miller of Bowen, Illinois; two brothers, Gene (Betty) Cox of Quincy and Ronald (Carol) Cox of Huntsville, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Jyl Faeth-Miller of Rockford, Illinois; special friends and caregivers, Joe and Jackie Pettit of Galesburg; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Thomas D. Miller in 2020; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Miller; three brothers, Grant Cox, Arthur Cox, and George Cox; and two sisters, Dorothy Hardin and Shirley Hess.

Vivian was a devoted homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. She was a caring and compassionate person who generously gave of her time, including reading to neighborhood children who were blind.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
