Kathryn Ida “Katie” Tracy, 100, of Galesburg, formerly of Aledo, passed away at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born February 25, 1926, in rural Aledo, the daughter of Ralph Harry and Anna Hazel (Leahigh) Kisler. She married Glenn Edward Tracy on December 30, 1950, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Aledo. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2020, after 70 years of marriage.
Kathryn graduated from Aledo High School in 1944 and attended Brown’s Business College in Galesburg. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, St. Crescent’s Parish.
Kathryn worked at Members Choice Credit Union at OSF St. Mary Medical Center for 29 years, retiring when she was 84 years old. She began her career as a cashier and bookkeeper for a clothing company, then worked for the power company, both in Aledo. She kept books for the family farm while raising five children — and even drove a tractor when needed. She served as a secretary at several area draft boards and was a familiar face to many Costa students, substituting in the lunch line for many years.
Kathryn enjoyed taking bus trips with friends, reading, and doing puzzle books. She created many special memories with grandchildren and great-grandchildren — reading to and playing games with them, teaching them card games, and how to bake her famous thumbprint cookies and caramel brownies.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph Michael (Sue) Tracy of Aledo and Dean Lawrence (Julie K.) Tracy of Galesburg; three daughters, Ann Marie (the late Ronald) Mueller of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Jan Maureen (Darrell) Moody of Dahinda, and Sandra Mary Mueller of Galesburg; grandchildren, Michelle Davidson, Lindsey (Drew) Berson, Angie (Mark) Jones, Jacob (Shannon) Moody, Stacy Mueller, Tracy (Mike) Krolczyk, Jennifer (Justin) duDomaine, Ben Tracy, Brigette Tracy, and Jackie (Chase) Burns; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Dean, Roy, Boyd, Clyde, Lyle, and Richard Kisler; and one grandson, Bryan Mueller.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services. Funeral Mass will follow at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or IHM.
