Robert Clark Mitchell, 75, passed away on May 3, 2026, at his home in rural Maquon, Illinois, surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on June 4, 1950, the son of Robert D. and Dorothy (Bainbridge) Mitchell. He married Deborah Ann Davis on October 29, 2004.
He graduated from Galesburg High School and went on to a trade school before working as a welder. He was a part of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 25 Union. Outside of work, Robert enjoyed collecting, restoring machinery, farming, and hunting.
Robert is survived by his wife; his children, Robert James (Jennifer) Mitchell of California, Brittney Leigha (Don) Infinger of Florida, and Jesse Clark (Jamy) Mitchell of Florida; his step-children, Christopher Thomas Earnhart of Chicago, Illinois, and Daniel Paul (Renae) Earnhart of Bunker Hill, Illinois; his grandchildren, Jacob B. Mitchell, Kelsey B. Mitchell, Chazie Infinger, Luke Infinger, Westyn Mitchell, Dawson Mitchell, Dewey Earnhart, and Zelda Earnhart; and one great-grandchild, Lady May Mitchell; his siblings, sister Rebecca “Becky” (Zack) Wessels of Knoxville, Illinois, and Deborah Carr of Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Seth Mitchell.
Cremation rights have been accorded. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 3 p.m., with a visitation beginning at 1 p.m., at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Interment will be in the Henderson Cemetery, Henderson, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the FISH Food Pantry or the Knox County Humane Society.
