Abingdon revs up for ‘Merica Figure 8 race

On this episode of WGIL’s Galesburg’s Morning News, Ashley Anderson and Amber Slagel from the Abingdon Community Festival Committee join us to preview the ‘Merica Figure 8 Point Series Race, set for Saturday, July 5, in Abingdon. They share what makes the event a highlight of the holiday weekend, with Figure 8 racing, gates opening at 4 p.m., and $10 admission for ages 3+. We dive into the lineup of food vendors, from Mom and Me Bakery’s sweet treats to Big Bucks BBQ and Jaliscos Taqueria. Ashley and Amber also highlight the $3 parking fee supporting the Willing Worker Bots 4H robotics team’s state competition goals. Not to be confused with the August fair, the family-friendly festival promises a lively atmosphere for all ages.
