A major supplier of blood to local hospitals in Galesburg, Monmouth and all across the Midwest is celebrating a milestone today.
Established in 1974, ImpactLife provides blood to more than 120 hospitals and emergency medical service providers located in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin. In western Illinois, this includes hospitals in Galesburg, Kewanee, Monmouth, Macomb, the Quad Cities, and Peoria.
ImpactLife will hold a special event with the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the blood center’s 50th Anniversary at 11:30 a.m. today at the ImpactLife Donor Center in Galesburg (503 Knox Square Drive). Donors are invited to join Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and blood center representatives for an open house, refreshments, and brief remarks on our region's blood supply.
Kirby Winn, public relations manager for ImpactLife, joined WGIL's Jay Redfern and Tyler Gumm on Galesburg's Morning News to talk about the importance of donating blood.
