A Galesburg man who dedicated most of his life to a career in law enforcement is ready to share his story in the form of a book.
David Clague retired as Knox County Sheriff in 2022, ending a 16-year run in the position and a nearly 50-year career in law enforcement. Prior to his time as sheriff, Clague worked for 34 years with the Galesburg Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant in 2007.
From crime scenes to fatal accidents, from arrests to apprehensions, to weather disasters to emergency situations, Clague has seen it all during almost a half century wearing a badge.
Clague is collaborating with former Galesburg journalist and author Steve Elliott on a proposed book that’s sure to provide a fascinating look inside the world of law enforcement.
Clague and Elliott join WGIL's Jay Redfern on this episode of Galesburg In Focus to discuss the new book and the sheriff's career in law enforcement.
