From Silver Streak to surgeon: Beau Shay’s hall of fame journey

In this episode of Galesburg In Focus, WGIL's Jay Redfern is joined by Dr. Beau Shay, a 2000 Galesburg High School graduate who’s earned titles like all-stater, state runner-up, quarterback, point guard, and orthopedic surgeon. Later this year, he’ll add hall of famer to his impressive resume.

Beau followed his brothers Jason and Zach to carve a stellar Silver Streaks career, earning seven varsity letters in football, basketball, and track. He was an all-state quarterback, setting a school record for touchdown passes in a season, and a key player on the 1998 state runner-up basketball team.

A Clemson University basketball walk-on, he’s now a surgeon at MercyOne Genesis in Bettendorf, Iowa, where he lives with his wife Jennifer and their three kids — Michael, Mya and Maxine.
