Galesburg Boys Lose First Game of Taylorville Holiday Tournament

In their first game of the Taylorville Holiday Tournament, the Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team fell to the Marion Wildcats, 68-50. It was the second time ever that the two schools met with the only other game occurring in 1921. The Streaks hung in with Marion throughout the first half; however, the boys did not convert on seven of their first seven field goals to start the third quarter leading to a double-digit deficit heading into the fourth. Despite cutting the lead to 10 points, the Streaks could not generate a significant run to end the game. The Streaks are now 4-9 on the season.

Senior Gino Williams was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game for his performance in the second half despite early foul trouble. He finished with 14 points with 8 coming in the fourth quarter.

The Streaks second game of the tournament will be tomorrow (12/28) against Jacksonville. Brad Bennewitz and Jason Wessels will bring you live coverage starting with the pregame at 11:40 AM on 93.7 FM & 1400 AM  WGIL, as well as streaming on wgil.com.
