Friday night at John Thiel Gym, the Galesburg boys basketball team defeated the Geneseo Maple Leafs, 61 - 44. Galesburg is now 9-20 on the season and 3-10 in Western Big 6 play.
Leading scorers for the Silver Streaks included Jace Keith with a career-high 31 points, Gino Williams with 9 points, Tyree Taylor had 7 points, and Demetrius Watson scored 4 points. Overall, Galesburg made 49% of their shots from the field and 60% from the free throw line.
With 12 points scored in the 1st quarter and 24 in the 1st half, Jace Keith set the tone for the Silver Streaks early in the game and was named the Dave’s Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game. Jace finished the game with a new career-high of 31 points, along with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and solid defensive play.
Galesburg and Geneseo will start the postseason with a rematch in the Regional Quarterfinal game on Monday 2/19. But first, the final game of the regular season and Senior Night is Tuesday 2/13 when the Streaks take on the Alleman Pioneers.
