Galesburg Girls Prevail In A Hard-Fought Game With Rock Island

In a defensive battle that saw a combined  40 turnovers between the two teams, the Galesburg girls basketball team got another conference win beating the Rocks at Rock Island, 41-38. The Silver Streaks are now 24-5 overall on the season and 10-3 in Western Big 6 games.

For Galesburg, Kiarra Kilgore led the way with another double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, as well as 3 steals, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot. Antonia Kisler had 8 points, 3  rebounds, and 2 steals.  Syriah Boyd scored 6 points with 3 rebounds and an assist. Alexis Edgerson finished with 4 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal and 1 assist,  and Jozalyn Kilgore had 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals in the game.

In a hard-fought defensive game where nothing was easy and everything was contested and challenged, Antonia Kisler was awarded the Dave’s Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game. Antonia had a couple of key steals late in the game, a clutch free-throw and a three-pointer that helped the Streaks secure the win.

Next up for the Galesburg girls basketball team is another long road game as they travel to Freeport Monday (2/05) night to take on the Pretzels. Pregame coverage with Tom Meredith will begin at about 6:40 Monday night on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM WGIL, as well as streaming on wgil.com.
