Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Suffer Another Western Big 6 Loss

The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team is now 0-3 in Western Big 6 games following a loss Friday night to the United Township Panthers, 69-61. Galesburg drops to 3-5 on the season while the Panthers remain undefeated at 7-0.

The Streaks trailed the entire game, but they never gave up, mounting a couple of rallies that got them to within 6 points of United Township. But poor free throw shooting and a lack of rebounding were a couple factors that kept Galesburg from overcoming the deficit. The Silver Streaks went 7 for 18 free throws, 38% for the game, while the Panthers shot 61% from the free throw line. And Galesburg was out rebounded by United Township, 32 to 18.

Senior Ian Dominique was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game for some big shots scored in the 2nd half. He was five for seven from the three-point line in the 2nd half and led the Streaks in scoring with 20 points in the game.

The Galesburg sophomores lost to United Township in the early game, 45-38.

Next up for the Silver Streaks is another home game as they host Burlington on Tuesday night (12/12). Brad Bennewitz and Jason Wessels will bring you live coverage starting with the pregame at 7:10 Friday night on 93.7 FM & 1400 AM  WGIL, as well as streaming on wgil.com.
