GAVC Pride: Galesburg’s Liam Dilley reflects on SkillsUSA National Championship

On Galesburg’s Morning News, Galesburg High School student Liam Dilley takes center stage to celebrate his SkillsUSA National Championship win in Related Technical Math, joined by Adam Seaney, vocational director of the Galesburg Area Vocational Center. Liam, a senior, scored an impressive 994 out of 1,000 at the June 23-27, 2025, competition in Atlanta, outpacing 39 high schoolers in a two-hour written test. Liam plans a STEM major at a four-year university. State Rep. Dan Swanson honored Liam for his accomplishments in a ceremony Wednesday at GHS.

Seaney said GAVC anticipates 450-460 students this year, up from 424, with every program growing, including a 16-student increase in the CNA program. Enrollment from area schools, now nearing 200 from eight public, one private, and occasional homeschool students, reflects rising interest, though capacity is nearly maxed out. New offerings include a medical assisting program starting this week and expanded automotive internships with three locations.
