Gold Out Game Tonight: T-Shirts, Fun, Wellness Support

On this morning’s Galesburg’s Morning News, Laurie Aten with Give Back, Galesburg previews tonight’s (Thursday, Jan. 22) Gold Out girls basketball game at John Thiel Gym. The Streaks host Sterling with sophomore tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m. Proceeds support the Kleine Pediatric Wellness Center and its programs for youth health, including Hands-Only CPR training in high school classes, vaping danger presentations to junior high students, Fit-Pits at elementary buildings, and preschool activities.

Give Back, Galesburg is a volunteer-led group partnering with students, athletes, and local businesses to fund pediatric wellness through community events. Following the successful fall Glow Up football game—which raised $3,000 for GHS athletics cardio equipment—tonight’s Gold Out builds on that momentum with Gold Out t-shirt sales (thanks to sponsors like Cooks & Co, CBI Bank and Trust, Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, and more), student-created door prizes (including metal signs), GAVC Culinary Arts cake and cookies, tumblers, signed basketballs, and more), and on-court fun like Baby Dash, Paper Airplane Fly-In, 3-point contest, half-court shot, and relay race.

A special nod to Sterling coach Tracy Jackson for buying Gold Out t-shirts for her team.
