Habitat for Humanity of Knox County is gearing up for an exciting 2025, with plans to build a new home, rehab another, support veterans, and potentially open a Habitat Re-Store in Galesburg.
Executive Director Emily Hayes and board member Randy Wilson joined WGIL's Tyler Gumm and Jay Redfern to discuss Habitat's mission of partnering with families to provide opportunities for homeownership, especially for those unable to secure traditional loans. They shared details about the upcoming home build starting in the spring and a rehab project for an existing home, emphasizing the importance of volunteer involvement and the concept of "sweat equity."
Additionally, they introduced Habitat for Heroes, a new initiative aimed at assisting veterans with home repairs.
Habitat For Humanity of Knox County Illinois will host a meet and greet at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 at Orange Cup Side Hustle to connect and share ideas.
