Juneteenth 2025 in Galesburg: A community celebration

On this episode of Galesburg’s Morning News, organizers Candy Webb and Stephanie Jackson Grimes preview the Juneteenth 2025 celebration in Galesburg, a 10-day event from June 10 to June 19 marking 160 years since the last enslaved people in Texas were freed. Hosted by the Support Group for African-American Affairs since 1991, this year’s expanded schedule reflects community collaboration and diverse activities. The main kickoff on June 14 at 460 Mulberry St. in Downtown Galesburg features gospel music, food trucks, and Mayor Peter Schwartzman’s remarks, with additional events like the Miss Knox County Juneteenth Pageant and a scholarship reception.
