Knox College Choir & Players present Haydn’s Creation in Galesburg

Knox College's Music Department is presenting an abridged performance of Joseph Haydn's oratorio "The Creation" as a major end-of-year musical event Friday, May 23 at Central Congregational Church on the square in Galesburg.

Described as an "unstaged opera" and a "movie for your ears," this work musically depicts the Judeo-Christian creation story, drawing text from the Book of Genesis and John Milton's "Paradise Lost." The performance features the combined forces of the Knox College Choir, the Knox College Players (in collaboration with the Knox Galesburg Symphony), and student and alumni soloists. It is a significant offering to the Galesburg community, showcasing the talent within the college and its commitment to contributing to the local arts scene.

Dr. Bram Wayman, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Knox College, joined Galesburg's Morning News to preview the event.
