Knox College’s jazz tradition gets fall 2025 refresh

On this episode of Galesburg's Morning News, we sat down with Andy Crawford, Managing Director of Knox College’s Music Performance Program, to preview the Fall 2025 music season. Jazz Night, a Galesburg tradition since 1991, is moving to Smokin’ Willies Barbecue on Cherry Street, kicking off this Thursday, Sept. 18, with free performances by the student-led Cherry Street Combo from 7 to 10 p.m. The Fall Jazz Series will feature masterclasses and jams with artists like Knox alum Matt Wilson on Oct. 16 and founder Scott Garlock on Nov. 6. Crawford highlighted Knox’s 35-year jazz legacy, shaped by community support and weekly gigs that develop student talent. Beyond jazz, expect the Knox Rocks Residency with Jake Havlac on Oct. 3 and the Homecoming Music Showcase on Oct. 11—all free events. Visit knox.edu/music for details.
