Knox County Soil & Water Conservation District Preview with Kara Downin

Kara Downin, Resource Conservationist for Knox County Soil and Water Conservation District, joins Galesburg’s Morning News to preview upcoming events and programs. The conversation covers the open house and director election on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the IDOA Conservation Seminars on Jan. 27 in Sycamore and Jan. 28 in Mt. Vernon, the newly released spring newsletter, and open spring sales for native seed, fish, trees, and native plant starts.
Kara also shares what’s ahead for the first half of 2026, including workshops, projects, and community efforts to support conservation in Knox County. All events and resources are open to the public, and the district continues its work to protect soil, water, and natural resources across the area.
