REPLAY: GHS Silver Streaks girls basketball vs Geneseo

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team returned home on Monday night to a 76-16 victory over Western Big 6 foe, Geneseo. The Streaks had a great offensive output; however, it was the defense that was the story of the night. The defense held Geneseo to 5 field goals and allowed zero in the 4th quarter.
The Streaks stay undefeated in the conference at 5-0 and improve to 10-1 overall.
The Streaks shot 30 of 65 from the field, 11 of 25 from three-point range, and 5 of 9 from the free throw line. Galesburg secured 41 rebounds on the night, while having 20 assists to just 10 turnovers.
Cora Johnson led the Streaks in scoring with 13 points off the bench. She had an impressive night which can be attributed to hard play from the start. Her efforts led to her being named to her second Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game this season.

Friday night at the Panther Den, the Galesburg High School boys basketball team suffered their 6th straight loss and remain winless in the Western Big 6. The Silver Streaks fell by 37 at United Township, 79-42. The 2nd quarter continues to cause the Streaks problems. They went into that quarter trailing only by 4 points, but only scored 2 points that quarter while giving up 32 points to the Panthers. United Township is now 7-1 and 3-0 at the top of the Western Big 6.
Keigen Crummer led the Silver Streaks in scoring and rebounding from the point guard position and earned the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game award for his efforts. Keigen finished the night with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Thursday night at Quincy, the Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team fought off a late comeback by the Blue Devils to win, 44-41. Galesburg held Quincy scoreless in the 3rd quarter, but the Blue Devils made a run in the 4th quarter to tighten up the score.
The Streaks are 1st in the Western Big 6 standings at 4-o in the conference, and 9-1 on the season overall.
The Streaks shot 17 of 42 from the field, 3 of 12 3-pointers, and 8 of 16 from the free throw line. A couple of those free throws were clutch late in the game to help clinch the win. Galesburg out rebounded Quincy, 30 to 19, and the Streaks had 18 turnovers to the Blue Devils' 20.
Jozalyn Kilgore led the charge for the Silver Streaks with 19 points and 10 rebounds along with a block. She played with determination from the start and never let up, even when things went Quincy's way at times. For all of that and solid defense on the conferences' leading scorer, Jozalyn was recognized as the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game.

The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team traveled to Quincy Tuesday (12/10) night and fell to the undefeated Blue Devils, 82-39. It's the fifth straight loss for the Streaks who are 3-5 on the season and 0-2 in the Western Big 6.
The Silver Streaks shot 13 of 33 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free throw line. They had 17 rebounds, 6 assists and 23 turnovers in the game. Jackson Crock Sibbing led the Streaks in scoring with 13 points. The Blue Devils shot 33 of 61 from the field, pulled down 34 rebounds, and had 20 assists to 6 turnovers.
Despite the score deficit in the 2nd half, Eden Mayala came out and played with heart making an impact for the Streaks and was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game.

Tuesday (12/03) night at John Thiel Gym, the Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball defeated the Dunlap Eagles, 52-47, for their 6th win of the season. The Streaks were led in scoring by Ella Herchenroder with 16 points, Lily Furrow with 11 points, and Grace Herchenroder with 10 points.
Lily Furrow was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. She provided a spark for the team coming off of the bench and scoring 11 points, including 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Lily had some crucial offensive rebounds and put-backs in the 4th quarter to help clinch the win.

Rahkim McCellan earned the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game award. Rahkim finished the game with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks. 7 of his 9 points scored came in the 2nd half. And his solid defensive play made it tough on shooters as well.
